After many years of commitment and dedication, Jerry Karlén from our Port Entry is retiring. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Jerry for his valuable contributions and the positive impact he has made on colleagues, customers, and partners during his nearly 50 years at Port of Uddevalla.
Kristoffer started out as an extra stevedore at the Port of Uddevalla back in 2008. Over the years, he has contributed to our operations in a variety of roles, and since this summer he has stepped in as Acting Foreman for the stevedoring department. He is now taking on the role as permanent Stevedore Foreman.
We are thrilled to announce that Uddevalla Municipality has been reinstated as an approved border crossing point. This means that the right to conduct crew changes at Port of Uddevalla has been restored, following more than 18 months of effort.
This week at Port of uddevalla Uddevalla hamn we’ve been busy. Over the quay alone, we have handled: 4,000 tonnes of bagged cargo, 5,000 tonnes of pulp, 18,000 tonnes of grain, 4,000 tonnes of cement. Over the weekend, we are adding a further 2,600 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo. In total, this corresponds to the weight of approximately 16,800 Volvo cars.
As members of TYA, the Transport Union's occupational and work environment committee, we have the opportunity to use Hamn- och Stuveriskolan’s crane simulators in the training of both aspiring and experienced crane operators.
